Biography:

Mrs. Anna C. Morgan Brightful is buried in Ellsworth Cemetery in Westminster, Maryland.
Ms. Morgan was born in 1889, the daughter of Mr. William and Mrs. Mary Ellen (Bowen) Morgan. The family lived on Union Street where she attended school in a one-room schoolhouse for the African Americans of Westminster. She may have gone to Atlantic City to work as a cook in a hotel.
She married Mr. William Brightful, a fellow Marylander, in 1916. They moved to Pittsburgh where they were living 1920. They had three children in Pennsylvania before moving to Westminster in about 1925. The family lived on Union Street, as she had when she was a little child. Her husband worked at Western Maryland college as a cook, while she took in laundry at home.
Sadly, she died in 1937, of a heart condition. She was buried in Ellsworth Cemetery.
