Sophia (McPharlon) Lytle

Biography:

Mrs. Sophia (McPharlon) Lytle was born about 1840 in Maryland. She was likely enslaved, although her enslavers have not been found.

She may have been married earlier in her life, to Mr. Elias McFarland, or that may have been her maiden name.

Ms. Sophia married Mr. Stephen Lytle in the winter of 1883. She was his second wife. They appear to not have any children together. She died in the spring of 1896.

Mrs. Sophia Lytle is buried at Ellsworth Cemetery near Westminster, Maryland. Her headstone was recently cleaned as part of the general restoration of the cemetery.
