Biography:
Mrs. Sarah Jones was born in the 1820s, likely in Frederick County. The earliest we find her in the records is with her husband, Thomas, and their two young children, in the 1850 Census. They are living in Carroll County.
Over the next decades, they continued to raise a family. In 1860, they had six children at home. By 1870, only three children were at home. Mrs. Jones continued to keep house for the family. In 1874, her husband passed away. By 1900, she was living with one son, Levi, on Union Street in Westminster.
The census records show that Mrs. Jones had at least 10 children, and maybe 12.
By the time of her death in 1912, she had only one child still living, Mrs. Margaret Ann (Jones) Warfield. Unfortunately, her obituary in the Democratic Advocate is too light to read.
Mrs. Sarah Jones is buried in an unmarked grave in Ellsworth Cemetery in Westminster, Maryland.
