Biography:
Nelson Leroy Sims Sr., 57, of Westminster, died suddenly on Saturday, Aug 31,1996, at Carroll County General Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Westminster, he was the son of the late Walter and Lamore Wilson Sims. He was the husband of Joan Sims of Baltimore.
He was a graduate of the Robert Moton School, class of 1966. He served in the Air Force from 1966 to 1960. He was self-employed in the construction and home improvement business An avid bowler, he was a member of the Union Street United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Shriners Jerusalem Lodge #4 in Baltimore. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Nelson Leroy Sims Jrf new Windsor, Rosalind Powell of Willow Grove, Pa., Sandra Lynette Sims of Baltimore, Robin Straiten, Lisa Allen, Rochelle Purnell of Baltimore, Linda Payne of Birmingham, Ala.; brothers Walter Sim s of Arizona, Lewis Sims of New Jersey, Eugene Sims of Balti more and Irvin Sims of New Windsor; sisters Mary Jane Dup pins of Union Bridge, Joan Edlan of Westminster, Elaine Pierre of Baltimore and Carolyn Wars of Westminster; 10 grandchildren, Numerous nieces and nephews; and devoted and loving friend Teresa Randolph of Westminster.
